Job Title: Med Surg/PCU/Tele RN - Neuro Trauma Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med Surg/PCU/Tele RN - Neuro Trauma Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of MS, PCU, ICU experience required. License: License Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in setting within the last year. Drip experience required. Experience with trach and vents preferred. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse working in a Neuro Trauma unit with a focus on Med Surg, PCU, and Telemetry. The unit manages patients with neuro-focused diagnoses, including strokes, seizures, and spinal injuries. Common patients include those with Guillain-Barré syndrome, Myasthenia gravis, and dementia. Trauma orthopedic injuries, such as hematomas and falls, are also regularly treated. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night, depending on acuity. Nurses should be comfortable with titrating drips, including Heparin, Nitro, and Insulin. The unit utilizes various respiratory therapy equipment, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP. Nurses will self-schedule with management balancing shifts six weeks in advance. Every other weekend and holiday commitment is required. Floating to sister units with mixed specialties may be necessary.
